I Give Up?

A week of working in Wakefield gave me the perfect opportunity to catch up with the Rough-legged Buzzard up on Broomhead Moor, South Yorkshire. Five bloody visits and the best part of 7 accumulated hours later not a sniff of the Buzzard. Plenty of Common Buzzards, Kestrels and a Sparrowhawk. Had a nice fly-through Red Kite yesterday (Thursday) and a single Black Grouse on Tuesday morning then later that afternoon.

With no luck at the RL Buzzard site i chanced my arm with the pair of Garganey at Elsecar Reservoir yesterday morning. No sign of these either but a corpse lay where they apparently slept the day before! Anybody ID from the crap image.

Certainly looks like the Garganey succumbed. Those Black Grouse are a bit plastic from a failed release scheme, still cracking birds though.
