Quality and Quantity

As its been nearly 3 weeks since my last post and add to the fact its pissing it down, thought i better update on a busy time? With a combination of ringing at Hugh's and Woolston i managed to pass 1000 birds processed, not bad for 7 months ringing. Highlights being a ringing tick Collared Dove (which was in active wing moult) at Hugh's and a female Sparrowhawk (that got the better of Kieran for a minute or two) down at Woolston. Another highlight was getting the opportunity to ring Barn Owl chicks last Saturday with Andrew Duncalf.

Away from the birds its been equally as busy? Saturday before last i was treated to the Foo Fighters concert at the Milton Keynes Bowl. My 2nd time seeing the Foo's and they didn't disappoint, playing a jam packed set lasting some 2 1/2 hours, together with special guest appearances from Roger Taylor and Alice Cooper! Biffy Clyro where excellent as the support act. What a day.

As if the Foo's wasn't a treat enough i was invited down to Silverstone last Sunday for the British Grand Prix!! Fortunately a good friend is boss at Arden International Motorsport, a GP2 racing team headed up by non other than Christian Horner at Red Bull. My pass allowed full access to the GP2/3 paddock which was located in the old pits, getting me close to the action happening in the garages. As if that was good enough i manged to get a grid pass for the GP2 race, which meant not only accessing the grid before the start of the race but also watching the GP2 from inside the Red Bull garage. Once the race was over it was off to watch the main event, unfortunately Hamilton, Button or Di Resta couldn't provide a win but a thrilling spectacle non the less. Truly a day i will never forget.
